Thanks to Apophysis 3D, Webscapes backgrounds are back!
3D Webscapes started in the late 1990's as a unique background image that was carefully designed so that when they were tiled to fill a graphical space such as a web page or the wallpaper on a computer screen, they interacted with themselves stereoscopically. Viewed in Cross-view or Parallel mode, they create a seamless 3D texture.
Apophysis 3D provides a unique designing environment for intricate textures and patterns. The 3D aspect allows stereoscopic rendering of these textures. The ability to use Parallel Perspective makes the patterns work in both positive and negative depth arrangement.
When these tiles are arranged in a horizontal sequence, features that stick out in front in one place will in the next sequence be reversed and be found in the background. The texture is comprised of this depth reversal pattern. The depth location which for a normal stereo pair image forms the "stereo window" is for these textures, the central depth around which all the features oscillate.

One of the best comments received in the late '90s was from a user who liked a pattern but had no idea what was meant by "Stereoscopic 3D". She installed the pattern on her computer and some time later accidentally discovered freeviewing. She wrote, "... I almost fell into my computer screen!"
As before, these patterns are offered free of charge. You are welcome to save desired background patterns from this portion of my website and use them wherever repeated tiles can be used.
Usage: Note that these patterns are designed as "Eye Candy" and may be too bright in color or high in contrast to be practical with text. Choose carefully in designing your website and select text with contrasting colors.
You may brighten or darken a texture pattern if needed to make your text readable.
NOTE: To use these textures on a website, they MUST be downloaded to your computer and placed on your web server!
The file names and directory structures on this site are subject to change. If you link to specific textures for your web page, it may end up without a background!
If possible, as on a website, please provide credit to this author and website as the source for your background and provide a link so others can find them easily.
The number of available patterns will grow as I have time to engineer them.
